Sandim Sextet

Here are the new posters for Carmen's show at Dazzle coming up April 27th.  She has a great sound, I hope to see you guys there! Created with illustrator.

Spores, Fumes and Fungus

Created with traditional and digital methods. I rather like this one. That's a scientist with fine spores and fungi for a head.

The Illustrated, open March 5th

I have an illustration show with John coming up next month!

"Illiterate," is a great publication I've illustrated for since they started. Now they've opened a gallery located at 82 South Broadway in Denver. John and I will have new works up for sale through the month of March. There's an opening on March 5th, from 6-10pm with live music from Ent'racte and great company of the Illiterate crew. Then afterwards we're headed to Dazzle for more music and fun with the trio. I hope to see you there!

Space is the place!

Here's a psychedelic inspirational poster I made last night for an office setting. It's a flaming brain with eye balls (Kozak), a man's legs with a crystal ball for an upper body (Graddy Tettener) and me as a dinosaur with my back pack full of pencils and paper. The light is from a space disc that's beaming us up for safe extraction from the exploding wasteland volcano planet's surface area. Created with graphite and digitally painted with photoshop.

OGO TANN!

This is an album cover I created Sunday. I like this one. Thanks to Mike I now have a great resource of old tapes and the amazing art that is indicative of the era.

Monster Lighting!

Zombie from tonight's warm up pages. Drawn with graphite and colored with photoshop.

John Muir

Good old John Muir. This is a piece from a few years back. A friend and I worked on an animation with this style in mind. Traditional methods for both this piece and the eye below. This Muir piece created with alcohol markers, and the eye with watercolor. Enjoy!

Directions

This is a design I recently finished for the alumni fine art show coming up. In the preliminaries here, everything is vector, but for the finals, I cut a stencil of the black letters and spray painted it a little messy. The gold, directions, was then hand written in gold paint marker. The background texture was printed with a large format inkjet, around 24" square.

Entr'acte Fridays

My favorite place to be Friday nights, 10:30pm, sitting at a table with a drink and a plate of food, drawing or painting in a sketchbook, while I listen to my friends play the best music in town. Flyer created with 3D Studio Max and illustrator.

The Dessert Roaming Kissing Fish

Here's one I saw in Nevada last year.

Lightnin' Bugs

These are the, "Lightnin' Bugs" that live outside of my house. They fly with their ears and have complex personalities. There's only a few here in the photograph, but they usually travel in large numbers.

The Loungist

Just finished a great evening of animation. Started the night with this character sheet, describing the main emotions I wanted to convey with this 1950's character. I then made a looping walk cycle, filmed it, painted in photoshop and imported to final cut.

Skill Power Logo

This is for a local group that was created to enrich students lives with knowledge about anything career related. The main form of communication is by speaking at forums that anyone may attend, that's where the speech bubble comes from. "Skill," has emphasis for the skills that one learns from the lectures and events. I made the logo with Illustrator. Enjoy! KH

VS.

Here's the poster for battles soon to be had. As part of Discovery Days here at school, two great gaming companies (NetDevil and Idol Minds) are presenting their work and speaking on concept design and illustration. It should be great! Click the poster above to read the details. Hope to see you there. KH

Shneea

This is a piece for Beck, a great friend who's coming to town this weekend. It was created with a single 2HB pencil and the background painted with photoshop. It feels like out children's book illustration and, well, Shneea. The piece was a lot of fun to create and a great exercise in texture application.      Enjoy! KH
